Although individual onsite wastewater systems (often referred to as septic systems) are as effective at treating human wastewater as centralized wastewater treatment systems, they are only effective when properly designed, constructed, operated, and maintained. Improper design, construction, operation, and maintenance can lead to elevated levels of fecal coliform bacteria and nitrates in wastewater discharge. Elevated levels of fecal coliform bacteria from human wastes are of special concern due to potential human and environmental health risks.
You are invited to a septic system operation and maintenance seminar on the evening of September 19, 2017 at 7:00 PM to learn more about the operation and maintenance of your septic system.
You can register by calling 515-433-0506, or by filling out our on-line registration form here.
