OFF-HIGHWAY VEHICLE AND SNOWMOBILE RENEWALS

The Off-Highway Vehicle and Snowmobile renewal season began September 1 and ends December 31. A five dollar penalty will be added to the renewal for vehicles renewed after December 31.

 User Permits –Requirement is different for snowmobiles than OHVs

User Permits can be sold by any ELSI license agent. Snowmobiles that are used on public land must display a user permit, resident and non-resident. User permits are required for non-residents that have their vehicle registered in another state for off-highway vehicles (ATVs, motorcycles and utility vehicles). User permits are not required for resident off-highway vehicle customers.

 Boone County Ordinance Regulating the Operation of All-Terrain and Off-Road Vehicles in Boone County:  Individuals who operate on Gravel Roadways in Boone County must obtain an identification plate from the Office of the Boone County Recorder.  Identification Plates at $10.00 each will be issued for only one All-Terrain Vehicle or Off Road Utility Vehicle and are not transferable.  The owner of each All-Terrain Vehicle or Off Road Utility Vehicle shall be required to provide proof of ownership and insurance and current registration.  Identification Plates shall be affixed to the rear of the vehicle so that the permit is clearly visible.  If you have questions about the Ordinance you can contact the Boone County Recorder’s Office at 515-433-0514.
