Emergency Road Closure of Old Highway 30 just west of Boone

Post Date:04/17/2017 1:20 PM
Over the past 2 weeks a sink hole/slide area has developed on Old Highway 30 just west of Boone on the hill.  Given the location of the problem, Boone County feels this is a safety issue and, therefore, will do an emergency closure of the road to thru traffic at 10:00 A.M., April 18, 2017 until approximately 6:00 P.M. for repairs. We will then reopen the road overnight and close it again on April 19, 2017 in the morning and have it closed until 6:00 P.M. This will continue for the next 3 to 4 days until the stabilization of the area is completed.

As with all construction work weather plays a huge roll in completion of projects. This exact schedule could change as the weather changes.

We understand that this causes a huge inconvenience for the traveling public but want to make every effort to keep everyone safe. We will have staggered barricades west of Montana Road, and by R-18 (L Avenue). We will also have staggered barricades just north and south of the actual work area. If you live between the barricades you will be able access your homes via vehicle. Please proceed with caution when navigating through the construction zone.
