PART TIME JOB OPENING with full time potential
Dispatch 911 Center
The Boone County Sheriff’s Office would like to announce that we are taking applications for part time 911 dispatchers/communications specialists. We are looking to hire one, possibly two, part time 911 dispatchers with the potential to go full time. Starting hourly rate is $17.68, with wage increases at one (1) year, one and a half (1 ½) years and two (2) years, at which point the employee tops out and receives annual (fiscal year) raises based on the negotiated contract. All applications will be reviewed. Eligible applicants will be contacted for an interview, followed by a drug test and background check.
The Boone County Sheriff’s Office houses the Communications Center for the entire county. All emergency and non emergency calls for police, fire or EMS for the county (to include the cities of Boone, Madrid, Ogden, Boxholm and Pilot Mound) ring through the Boone County Communications Center. Responsibilities of the job include, but are not limited to, 911 call taking and dispatching of all police, fire and EMS calls and data entry in many forms. Employees are required to use many programs at a time and interact frequently with the general public, working very closely with law enforcement officials and jail staff. Employees must be detail-oriented, friendly and comfortable with high stress situations.
The Communications Center currently employs eight full time 911 Dispatchers and 2 part time 911 Dispatchers. The Communications Center is manned by two 911 Dispatchers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Employees are required to work nights, weekends and holidays. Part time hours do vary.
At this point in time, the Sheriff’s Office has not put a deadline on applications and interviews will be conducted accordingly. However, once the position(s) are filled, we will no longer take applications.
