Boone County tries to have a Severe Weather Spotter Class every spring. The class will be sponsored by the National Weather Service out of Johnston, Iowa and Boone County Emergency Management. The class is open to anyone that may have an interest in learning more about what to look for and /or what to do in case of severe weather.

The presentation is approximately one and a half hours long and will give you the basics of how severe weather develops, what to look for, how to be a trained spotter and how to report potential severe weather. Every year the Weather Service updates the presentation with new information, photos and situations from the past year which makes it very informative and interesting for past attendees and those who have never attended.

You do not have to pre-register to attend. If you have any questions, please call the Emergency Management Office at 515-433-0592 or you can email Dave Morlan at davem@boonecounty.iowa.gov.
