Keep Boone County Beautiful (KBCB), formed in 2001/2002, partners with individuals, groups, businesses and local governments to maintain and enhance the beauty of Boone County, Iowa.

KBCB's efforts focus on:
Litter Awareness and Prevention
Waste Reduction and Recycling

KBCB's Vision: A cleaner and more beautiful county.

KBCB's Mission: To protect and preserve the beauty and quality of life through partnerships between citizens, business, neighborhoods and government.

Keep Boone County Beautiful is supported by the Boone County Landfill. The Landfill provides staff and funding for this County-wide program. KBCB is a volunteer-based program and depends on the efforts of people just like you to undertake many of our programs. Want more information on volunteer opportunities? KBCB coordinates a number of ongoing activities and events.

Environmental Education Outreach Program: In conjunction with the Boone County Landfill, KBCB provides an extensive environmental education program. This program offers a comprehensive list of educational activities for citizens of all ages. In addition, a speakers bureau can provide your group or organization with guest speakers on a wide variety of environmental topics. For more information, click here .

Watershed Quality Awareness & Protection: KBCB and other organizations are working hard to raise public awareness about watershed quality and protection opportunities. A Mobile Watershed Education Center can be scheduled to come to your location or event and provides on-site learning activities. For more information, click here .

Dragoon River Romp: The premier event is the award winning “Dragoon River Romp”, an annual watershed awareness raising event that seeks to cleanup and protect the Boone County portion of the Des Moines River. For more information on the Dragoon River Romp, click here.

Keep Boone County Scenic – No Litter Day: The “Keep Boone County Scenic” program is a spring event that focuses on a variety of litter cleanup activities throughout Boone County. For more information, click here.

Roadway Adoption Programs: The “Adopt-A-County Road” and “Adopt-Your Favorite Place” litter control programs provide opportunities for families and groups to formally adopt a set location and maintain it to present a positive image for Boone County. The “Adopt-A-City Street” program is available in participating communities. KBCB provides training, signage and collection supplies for the above programs. For more information, click here.

Litter Free Events: Make you organization's special event a "Litter Free Event." You can either contact us for Litter Free Event Posters or you can download one by clicking here .

Illegal Dumping: KBCB and the Landfill support activities provided by Boone County Health & Sanitation that combat illegal dumping. The “Take A Stand For Your Land Program” provides information on environmental damage a costs to taxpayers that result from illegal dumping activities. Prairie Rivers of Iowa Resource Conservation & Development:  The mission of Prairie Rivers of Iowa is to promote community-based stewardship that will improve the quality of life of our citizens, preserve the ecological integrity of the land, and meet the economic aspirations of landowners and communities.

They have been serving citizens across Iowa and in Boone, Story, Marshall, Hardin, Hamilton, and Webster Counties since 2001.

Concentrating on conservation of land and on developing and improving our quality of life.
